This is Thomas Arthur Schaefer. One of my bestest buddies in the world. (He's also a really bad ass artist check that here) He e-mailed this photograph last night from his hometown of Atlanta Georgia and the title of the e-mail was "Late Later Then Some". I sure he was drinking at the El Myr in Little Five points just around the corner from the Vortex (who by the way has some of the best hamburgers in the world). Damn him, I miss that place, at least he's drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon and in a bottle none-the-less. Good for him, bad for me and anyone with the guts should come with Jenny Garcia and I to the Drive Invasion at the Starlight Drive-In in good ole' ATL labor day weekend. It will be two days and nights of camping at the drive-in with bands and car shows during the day and at night all the b-movies (i.e. horror, exploitation etc.) that you can handle. Over the last four years I've been twice and loved every minute of it. Plus, all the beer we can drink. Wooot! Pabst Blue Ribbon!
Enough!

Outsider Artist

This is a painting that I bought at the North Texas Arts & Jazz Festival. I usually hate these kinds of things because of all the crappy art, but this time I was pleasantly surprised. This is a painting by Harry Messer. He died last January in a nursing home where he had been living because of his severe schizophrenia. I think he was 53 when he passed. The lady I bought this painting from inherited them from Harry when he passed. All his paintings are religious themed and this seemed the best of the lot. This is titled "The Rapshure Like A Thief in The Night" Check out the detail in this painting: all the people walking across the streets and cars with headlights on. Not to mention all the detailed brand logos. Hope you like it as much as I do.
Have a good day,

Massage Mate

I found this album cover and at first glance didn't really pay attention. Second glance, I noticed that this guy looks like a squirrelly Burt Reynolds. LOL! This is an album I need. Music to massage my mate by, YES!
Enjoy,

Man Oh Man

Man-o-man did I have a good weekend. I have to tell you first that I got a couple days of TLC that were just about as perfect as you can get. Also, I most def have a new appreciation for the art of Betty Page. I have always enjoyed Irving Klaw and Bunny Yeager's photographs of the beautiful Betty Page, but I've never really got up close and personal with the art of Page until this weekend. Thank you Stephanie. That was awesome. Anytime you get to study the poses and lines of Betty Page do it. She is gorgeous and her art and beauty is classically timeless. Her beauty will live on forever. Through these photographs she becomes immortal. She is a shining star that lights up the blackest recesses of space. Sounds like someone I know ... hmmm

I did send payment for this painting today. I probably can't afford it, but I'm gonna make do cause I love me some Gram Parsons (RIP) and folk art. The guy who paints these is named Lamar Sorrento. He's pretty good. I like his stuff a lot. Check out his work here.

Ok so this has been a busy and boring assed day. I couldn't find anything cool on this webber thingy place. You know you got to be careful on this thing cause you might get a virus. I'm thinking something like swine flu or a stomach virus. Yikes! Anyway that's stupid. So, in the name of stupidty I'm gonna post some stupid monkey photos. The first is this monkey flipping the bird time 2 and the second two monkey photos is what I'm gonna be doing tonight. You know. "Aaron what did you do this weekend?" "Oh, just monkey around a little bit." Have fun this weekend. I know I'm goin' to

Giant Drawing

This is a new Mike Giant drawing. I love it! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks girls with tattoos and glasses are hot. Plus, I'm grooving on the class of 1985 tat. I think 1985 must of been a good year. I'm just saying.

This is one of my most favorite albums ever. Roger McGuinn and Gram Parsons teamed up on this album and it is a classic. This was shortly before Chris Hillman and Gram left the Byrds to form the FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS. And then underneath this album cover is the orginal artwork were it came from a Levi's ad from the 20s or 30s not sure. The artist is Jo Mora and he is the jam. Hope you like it.

Ok
so if you haven't heard of King Kahn and the Shrines or King Kahn and the BBQ Show you are in for a real treat. If you like sixties psychedelic rock and sixties r&B soul music mixed together with one of the strangest stage performances then you are gonna love this guy. Go to google and start typing there are enough free mp3's out there to give you a good idea. Word!

I think this is a still from that docu. The funny thing is that he is smoking a cigarette too! LOL!

I've been listening to a lot of John Lennon (not the Beatles) lately, his melodies are so wonderful. And I know Yoko broke up the band, but I think they were one of the cutest couples ever. Then, I found this photo John with a ukulele. That's pretty cool. I've heard rumors that there is a clip in a documentary of the Beatles where John is sitting at the window of a hotel room, in America on their first tour, and he is playing the melody of Strawberry Fields Forever on a melodica. How cool is that? I'm gonna try and track that down. Supposedly that was filmed several years before that song had been recorded. Kinda gives you some insight has to how they wrote and recorded their songs. Have a good day and hope to see you soon.

I really like this album cover. Cowboys and indians are one of my favorite genres. The cool things here is that the cowboy is hitting the peace pipe. That rules!

So, I have to say that this last weekend was an amazing weekend. So many rad things happened it's hard to catch my breath and digest it all. Friday night was one of the best nights I've had in many a moon and then it was followed by a very emotional night with all my friends and family at Jason Thompson's wedding. There were a lot of crying, hugging, heavy drinking and love in the air. If anyone has photos/video of my playing will you please forward them to me. I dedicate these two photo to my friends, family and the special people in my life because truly you are all very beautiful. I couldn't ask for a more awesome, dedicated and loving set of friends. I love you all and can't wait to see you again. The Rockwall crew out does themselves yet once again.

Lips Bring It

If you have never seen this before it's pretty damned cool. This is Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips and his modified double-neck Gibson. It's made partially out of a guitar hero guitar joystick (if that is what the kids still call them) an oscillator and that Gibson. I think he made it specifically for this NBC promo that the Flaming Lips did where they do their own rendition of the NBC trademarked chime. Pretty Cool huh! I think if you go to youtube.com you can check it out. I love monster, modified or hand-made instruments ... whatev' you choose to call them.

1st B & A

Hey Folks,
This is my home practice space before I really started playing at home instead of the rehearsal studio that James, Ron (Stag Film) & I rent. I'll post the after photo tonight when I get home and take the damned thing. I hope you all are enjoying this cause it's blood sweat and tears friends! Also, this photo was taken before I painted my bass drum head DIY style.

Weird Lennon

Check this weird John Lennon article about his new exhibit at the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame Annex in New York City here.
